Copeland Severe Service Ball Valves includes a wide selection of solutions for dependable isolation in Power, Mining, Refining, Silica and Petrochemical Applications. They are made for the extreme conditions of high temperatures, heavy solids, coking, abrasives and corrosives. The vast majority involve abrasives or high pressure steam.
This section gives a brief overview of some of our current projects that are typical for Copeland ball valves. We have worked on thousands of applications in power, petrochemical, refining and mining. We have also repaired and modified a wide range of competitor's valves.
When you work with us, you'll gain not only a world-class team but also a wealth of industry experience.
Trunnion Ball Valves for Truely Bidirectional Shut-off!Copeland's severe service trunnion design features metal seats coated with carbide or ceramic. Metal seats that are truely bi-directional. Metal seals supported by a trunnion design that keeps torque low while still providing abrasion resistance and reliable service. This valve is especially suited to mining applications and ore transport.
Copeland was asked to review and modify a competitor's valve that had some serious leakage issues in high pressure steam. Adjustments were made to the ball, spring, stem and stem bore to increase alignment and to provide a better finish to the ball and downstream seal. The valve passed test with the original coating but we stroked it 30 times to see what would happen in service conditions. The valve developed a slight leakage due to wear of the coating as the carbide particles held their shape while the binding material wore away a little. We think that any claims of "Zero Leakage" should be tempered with the possibility that the valve will leak after a number of actuations and that differences in thermal expansion of the ball and seat (if the seat is carved out of the body it may be made of a different material) can also cause the valve to leak at higher temperatures.
Copeland's Cold Reheat Drain Valve is available in ASME classes 600, 900 and 1500 Limited Class. It is designed to meet the requirements of ASME TDP-1 1998 for the prevention of water induction into steam turbines in cold reheat applications. Typical Valves are 150# to 4500# ASME Class. SWE, BWE and Flanged are common but RTJ and Screwed- in valves are also available. Quick deliveries are offered for A105, F22, 316ss and P91 bodies.
Typical Valves are ASME 150 -1500 # Class, Flanged Ends, 1/2" - 14" and Full Bore.
